Another Sign of Etheridge’s Out of Control Spending?

Are these signs worth $200 million to you?

My opponent, 14-year incumbent Bob Etheridge, has once again voted to waste more of your hard-earned tax dollars. This time it’s on road signs that promote President Obama’s “Stimulus Plan” at taxpayers’ expense.

Here in North Carolina these green road signs cost a whopping $2,500 each. ABC News claims that these signs – nationally – have cost $5 million, but Rep. Aaron Schock (R-IL) says the cost is closer to $20 million and is on pace to cost a total of $200 million.

$200 million for signs? Hardly sounds like stimulus to me. The people of North Carolina’s Second Congressional District need tax cuts and jobs, not metal road signs decorating our highways.

All five Republicans in North Carolina’s delegation voted to stop this wasteful spending. All eight Democrats from our state, including Congressman Etheridge, voted to continue spending money on the signs.

So while Americans are tightening their belts to make ends meet, Democrats like Bob Etheridge continue to spend recklessly– pilling up job killing debt – to pay for signs praising President Obama’s “Stimulus Bill.
