Bob Etheridge: Spending Champ

Remember Barack Obama in his debate with John McCain promising to go through the budget line by line to cut spending?

That is what he said, but this is what he did. In just two years, President Obama increased government spending by a staggering $541 billion a year — an increase of nearly twenty percent. And Congressman Etheridge voted for it all.  Every penny.

But Congressman Etheridge wasn’t satisfied with all that spending. Believe it or not, he wants to spend even more than President Obama.

Last week, Congressman Etheridge voted to spend an additional $1.8 billion that even Barack Obama didn’t want to spend (Roll Call 489). That was another $1.8 billion for things like mass transit and public housing that not even Obama wanted.

Outspending Barack Obama makes Bob Etheridge one of the biggest spenders in Congress – and that is saying a lot.  Being a champion spender earns Congressman Etheridge another dubious distinction as well – that of champion job killer.   We can’t afford to give Bob Etheridge the opportunity to spend us further into debt and continue to cost us much needed jobs.
