Join Us for Renee’s Swearing In Ceremony in Washington

Thanks to your hard work and friendship and support Renee Ellmers will be sworn in as a new member of the 112th Congress on January 5, 2011. We hope that you will be able to join us to celebrate this historic event.

Beth and Nash Johnson and Telia and Jerol Kivett and Allie Ray McCullen will host an ‘Inauguration Reception’ honoring Renee on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., at The Hay-Adams hotel on Sixteenth and H Streets, N.W., Washington, DC, 20006.

If you can join us, please RSVP to Sarah Hill Barrington at sarahhill@reneeforcongress.com. Merry Christmas

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. — Luke 2:13-14

At this special time of year, Christians around the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Many do so by following His example of compassion and generosity of spirit — reaching out to those less fortunate, lending a helping hand. Many celebrate the season by remembering those in uniform serving overseas, whose sacrifices keep us all safe and free. Others take time out from their hectic schedules to enjoy good times with family and friends.

As we join in the various celebrations of this Christmas season, may we all give thanks for the many blessings we enjoy. May we remember those serving at home and in foreign lands, and their families. And in true Christmas spirit, may we reach out to those in our community in need.

Thank you for your support and prayers over the past year. My family and I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year.

Time to End Politics as Usual

Sometimes it just seems no matter what the American people do Congress doesn’t listen. In November, Americans voted overwhelmingly against Obama-nomics, Obama-care and Obama-deficits – handing Obama, Pelosi and Company the worst mid-term election defeat in decades. After the election, Republicans convened in Washington and voted to end all earmarks – period – and to [...]

Transition In Progress, Fish Fry Thursday Night

I’m now going through what in Congress is called ‘the transition process’ for new Congressmen and women. That means I’m attending caucuses, meeting with House Leaders and voting to elect the leaders of the various arms of the caucus (like the House Republican Conference). A lot of the work focuses on committee assignments. And more than anything else I’m working on setting up my congressional offices in Washington and here in the Second District. Plus finding a place to live in Washington.

If you don’t have other plans and it’s convenient I hope you will join me on Thursday, December 9, for a Fish Fry Fundraiser at Linshire by the Pond, 4332 Cokesbury Road, Fuquay-Varina, N.C. from 6 – 8 p.m. There is additional information about the event on my Facebook page and on my website.

In addition, this weekend I will be attending various holiday events across the District including Christmas parades in Clinton, Clayton and Lillington.

As ever, I am grateful for your continued prayers and support. Please continue to visit my website and Facebook page for updates and upcoming events. And, as always, many thanks for all you do – and have done.

Renee

Happy Thanksgiving Day

As we sit down with family and friends this Thanksgiving there are so many things we have for which to give thanks. We live in the greatest country on earth where the rights and freedoms we enjoy are the envy of the world. A few short weeks ago we exercised the right to vote and saw how our system of government allows the voices of all the people to be heard.

I have much to be thankful for this year. God has blessed me with a loving family, wonderful friends and a great community. Now I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve that community in the United States Congress. That blessing came through the support of people here in North Carolina and all over the country who contributed their time, money and prayers.

Thank you so much for your support. I hope that you will continue to keep me in your prayers today and throughout the coming year. Best wishes to you and your family for a very happy Thanksgiving Day.

Renee

Happy Veterans Day

Today we honor all American veterans — past and present. Those who have served this country during war have done the selfless work of ensuring our liberty and our way of life. For that we owe them our appreciation, not just today, but every day.

In addition to honoring their service with a day of recognition and various ceremonies, we can do so in more personal ways every day of the year. We can personally thank the veterans in our lives. We can send notes and cards to hospitalized veterans and those living in veterans’ homes. And we can work to make sure our government policies show the appreciation of the nation by seeing to the needs of our veterans.

Happy Veterans Day.

Thank You!

Thank you. Thank you more than I know the words to express.

Last night we proved every vote, every phone call, every sign, every dollar contributed, every bumper sticker and every email forwarded made a difference – winning 50% to 49%.

As I said in my speech last night, the people should not be working for Washington, Washington should be working for the people. My trust now is to work for you. And I will be looking to you, not to the leadership in Washington, for the answers.

I am honored by your support. Thank you, again. And God bless you.

No Congressman Etheridge — I Do Understand

We launched a new television ad today in response to Bob Etheridge’s charge that “Ms. Ellmers just doesn’t understand” how things work in Washington. During a recent appearance on the television program, “On the Record,” Bob Etheridge told WRAL host David Crabtree that “Mrs.Ellmers just doesn’t understand” and in his most recent campaign ad he repeated the charge that “Mrs. Ellmers doesn’t seem to understand.”

No Congressman Etheridge, I do understand.

Please watch the ad below:

Congressman Etheridge: “David, I’m sorry Mrs. Ellmers just doesn’t understand.”

Renee Ellmers: “No Congressman Etheridge, I do understand. Your trillion dollar spending has failed. Social Security recipients won’t get a cost of living increase, and the price of health insurance is skyrocketing. If we want to change Washington, we have to change the people in Washington. I’m a nurse, a wife and a mom and I do understand. I’m Renee Ellmers and I approved this ad.”

Please help me air my response to Bob Etheridge’s negative ad through Election Day by contributing today.

And, in addition, help by sharing this link to the ad with your friends via email and Facebook.
