The Trillion Dollar Question Bob Etheridge Won’t Answer

In last Saturday’s NBC17 debate between Renee Ellmers and Congressman Etheridge, there was an interesting exchange:

Renee Ellmers: “Congressman, you said that something will have to give, well the people of district two are going to give, and give, and give, in order to keep this massive healthcare bill in place. Am I correct to assume, and I guess this is a question, you believe the government can handle one sixth (1/6) of the economy better than the free enterprise system? That Americans, North Carolinians can’t make those choices and put those things in place better than the government?”

Moderator Kim Genardo: “Rebuttal, or shall we move on?

Congressman Bob Etheridge: “Move on.”

We Do Understand, Mr. Etheridge

In a new negative ad, Congressman Etheridge says I just don’t understand the wonderous benefits of Obamacare. Translation from Washington speak:  You don’t understand means you common people are just too stupid to get what Washington is doing to help you. Only we do understand — because we are paying the bill.  According to the [...]

Ellmers-Etheridge Debates Air This Weekend

Today watch the NBC 17 Debate between Renee and Bob Etheridge at 2 p.m.

Tomorrow (Sunday, October 24) the WTVD Debate between Rep. Bob Etheridge and Renee Ellmers will air at 12:00 p.m. Click here to watch online now.

Watch and compare what Bob Etheridge says in the debates to get reelected – to how he votes.

For example, when asked about the Bush tax cuts Etheridge said he wished they could have taken care of that before Congress adjourned. But he cast the key vote for adjournment. He voted to adjourn – and it passed by 1 vote.

He bragged about voting to balance the budget under Clinton, but he actually voted against final passage of the bill.

He bragged about voting to support Veterans, but did not mention how he voted against sending our troops reinforcements when they were fighting in Iraq. .

And he just completely dodged answering why he has voted with Obama-Pelosi 97% of the time.

Pay attention to these and all the other differences between what NC Bob says when campaigning at home and what DC Bob does when he is in Washington.

Why You Should Vote for Me

Why is this election important? It’s simple. Because our country is headed in the wrong direction. Obama-nomics, bailouts, trillion-dollar deficits, government-run health care haven’t worked, and, as a result, we’ve lost jobs and the recession’s deepened. Rather than spending like there’s no end in sight and piling trillions onto the national debt, we need to [...]

The People Against Washington

This election it’s the people against Washington. And one way people are speaking out is with their contributions.  For example:  In the last three months, I have raised more money than Congressman Etheridge – who’s been in political office for 30 years.  That hardly ever happens – a challenger out raising an incumbent.  But my [...]

Shoveling

President Obama and those in Congress who voted for the stimulus bill spent months telling us about how the bill would stimulate the economy because the money would go into “shovel ready” projects.  Now, over a year later, he has determined that “there’s no such thing as shovel-ready projects” and even admits that perhaps he [...]

Expect More Budget Busting Votes

During our debate on  WTVD earlier this week, Congressman Etheridge told voters that he voted to balance the budget 13 years ago, in 1997, and added, “I look forward to working across party lines again. We did that to balance the budget … I cast the first vote. I went to Washington to help balance [...]

Supporting Veterans

You may remember the curt exchange between Bob Etheridge and a U.S. Marine at a town hall meeting in Lillington last summer, when the Marine asked Congressman Etheridge a question about Obamacare. By comparison, during our debate, Congressman Etheridge was courting veterans and bragging about his support for the military. But veterans live in the same economy as the rest of us and – as the Marine’s question showed – ‘DC Bob’s’ votes for stimulus spending, Obamacare, cap and trade, bailouts and trillion dollar deficits hurt them just like everyone else.

For example, ‘NC Bob’ promised seniors he wouldn’t cut Medicare but, then, ‘DC Bob’ voted to cut Medicare half a trillion to pay for Obamacare. That didn’t just make life harder for seniors. It affected their children and families.

Finally, during our debate – while ‘DC Bob’ was pandering to veterans – there’s one vote he never mentioned: How, when our troops were fighting in Iraq, he voted with Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi against the surge. Our troops were making the sacrifices that are now allowing us to leave Iraq with honor – but when it came to sending them reinforcements Congressman Etheridge voted no.

Please keep this in mind the next time you hear Bob Etheridge talk about his support for veterans.

Etheridge Dodges During Debate

Yesterday morning, I debated Congressman Bob Etheridge at WTVD 11. The debate is available online (watch below) and will be televised on October 24th.

During the debate Congressman Etheridge (as he has done throughout the campaign) promised voters he shares their values and concerns – but then dodged explaining why he has voted with President Obama and Nancy Pelosi 97% of the time in Congress.

He also dodged defending the ad he is running against me – which even the News & Observer says is inaccurate and misleading. And he dodged explaining why he’s voted for over a trillion dollars of Obama’s tax increases.

Campaigning in North Carolina ‘NC Bob’ Etheridge talks the talk he thinks voters want to hear. He says he shares our values. Supports a balanced budget. Wants to cut spending. But in Washington ‘DC Bob’ doesn’t walk the walk. ‘DC Bob’ voted for the Obama bailouts, Obama stimulus bills and Obama’s trillion dollar deficit.

Help me combat Bob Etheridge’s misleading negative attacks by contributing whatever you can now. Your contribution will help me get the word out and set the record straight.

I Won’t Raise Your Taxes. Bob Etheridge Already Did.

Congressman Bob Etheridge is desperate – and he’s running a new ad smearing me. On taxes.

In Washington, Bob Etheridge voted for over a trillion dollars of Obama’s tax increases. He voted for the death tax, the cap and trade tax and the Obama-care taxes. But, now, he’s actually telling voters that I am the one who wants to raise taxes.

Please contribute as much as you can immediately – right now – so I can air my response to Bob Etheridge’s negative ad.
